What do we think?

Expand your local knowledge through a fascinating day-long exploration of West Country history with Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard, experienced local and family historian. A regular speaker at the Society of Genealogists and the ‘Who do you think you are? yearly event at Olympia, Jane is the ideal guide on a journey into our complex local past. Pop to delightful Dillington House for a day of delving into the tales of characters, families and companies – both terrific and terrible – which have shaped the Dorset and Somerset that we know today. This is a wonderful opportunity to share ideas with a small, friendly group, under the guidance of an expert in a striking country setting on a sunny (we hope!) summer’s day. Whether you’re an armchair expert on local history or just beginning to indulge an existing interest, this is the day for you!

What do they say?

“During this day course we will explore the important aspects of West Country history including the Dorset and West Country connections to slavery, migration from the West Country in the 1800s and the Conrad Finzels – sugar refiners in Bristol.”
